sinus infection in horses?

How long is an average of past sinus infection in horses? I have given my horse the penicillin, but it still seems that his nose is a mucus nostril. It only happens about twice a day. i have given the quantity required 5 days of penicillin.

Nasal discharge does not necessarily mean an infection is present. Many horses, like people, have nasal allergies. Antibiotics do not affect to this. Furthermore, as the previous poster said, it could be viral. Only by giving a single dose of antibiotics usually will not be deleted or bacterial infections. Penicillin try to avoid if possible. Sure, it's cheap and easy to administer, but the injections to burn and after a few days of penicillin injections, some horses start getting the needle shy. If you need antibiotics, ask your vet for some antibiotics by mouth may bring in food.
