my shitzu wont let me clip his rear end?
My shitzu wont let me clip around his backside or genitals. he gets very aggresive and am afraid he might snap. my other shitzu lets me no prob…….i have a special oster clippers with the right blade and i have to say i made a great job of the first dog but the second more dominant dog will not allow me to clip him beyond the shoulders. i will use a muzzle but i remember i saw on tv a dog groomer had a strap around the dogs head attached tightly to what seemed like an upright stake in the ground – it didnt seem to hurt the dog but it did keep him facing forward. Does anyone know what this is called and where i could buy one?thank you for your help and i would like to thank all who answered my last question about stopping my dogs from barking. thanks again siobhan
Those are called “Arms” on a grooming table, and they put a “grooming loop” around the neck, it doesn’t keep them facing forward, it keeps them from running off the table, and hopefully in the same place. Those are pretty expensive, I bought a used toy table for 300$ and they normally run about a grand.
Do you know what size blade it is? if they are “30″ it is too small! it will cut your dog, you need a “10″
ALWAYS use ‘kool-lube’ because within a few moments your clippers will be HOT and enough to burn your dog BADLY. Oster is a great brand and they have a clipper coolant.
Some dogs just dog not like their rears done, but if you let them KNOW that you will quit they will keep doing what they do to make you. Dogs know how to push their owners buttons and know what to do to get their way. Stopping just reinforces that bad behavior and telling him that it is how to make you stop.
