When Mohammed Abu Lahab said: May you perish
This paper discusses the relationship between two remarkable individuals: the first is an ignorant Arab (Abu Lahab) in the year 611 and the second is a Canadian professor (Gary Miller) in 1977.
The historical background of the story of Abu Lahab '
It is narrated that Allah has sent His Prophet Muhammad:
"And warn your tribe of near kindred" (Verse 26: 214)
Then one day, in the year 611, Muhammad climbed a hill in Mecca and shouted: "Oh house (and named all the parents of his tribe), Come to me!" And his whole tribe gathered around him (some came in person and others sent their own emissary).
They said, 'What's wrong? "
He said: 'If I were to say that the enemy will attack you in the morning or evening, do you think?
They said: 'In In fact, you'd think. "
He said: "In that case, I am a Warner sent to you from a terrible punishment. I have nothing in my power to save him punishment of Allah, nor can I promise nothing in this world unless we say there is no deity but Allah. "
Abu Lahab said in response: "That lost, is why this has summoned all of us here? '
Then the Prophet was threatened with punishment in the afterlife,
However, he said, "If what the son of my brother says is true, then I will rescue her with my wealth and sons!"
So God revealed (The power of Abu Lahab will perish, and perish, …) until the end of Surah No. 111. "
Abu Lahab died 10 years after this event.
Who is Abu Lahab?

A man named Rabi `ah Ibn Abbad," said
"I saw the Prophet Muhammad in the market and saying," O people! Say is not worthy of worship except Allah and you will succeed. "The people were gathered around him and behind him was a man with a bright face, eyes squinting eyes and two braids in her hair. He was saying: "He (Muhammad) is an apostate and a liar!"
This man was following the Prophet wherever I went. I asked him who he was and the people responded, "This is his uncle, Abu Lahab '."
There are many stories of this kind that tells the ending story, the horrible waste treatment and Abu Lahab statements against the Prophet Muhammad, which can count as reasons why the verses under discussion, criticizing and cursing him and his wife as clearly and severely.

What does the Koran say about Abu-Lahab and his wife?
Sura (chapter) 111, five lines, speaks of Abu-Lahab and his wife.
Sura (Chapter) 111, verses 1-5, Pickthal translation:
1, the power Abu Lahab perish, and he will perish.
2 his wealth and gains will not exempt him.
3 which sank in flaming fire,
4 his wife, timber carriers,
May his neck was a rope (twisted rope) from palm fiber.
The meaning of Chapter 111
Verse 1: perish, be ruined, the hands of Abu Lahab, in other words, all of it.
And miss out! Can it be ruined! "God destroyed and in fact destroyed. "This curse is the answer to Abu Lahab is saying to the Prophet May I perish!" when he met and invited them to the profession of the oneness of God
Verse 2: Your abundant wealth does not help you in the afterlife, when brought to the fire, and what has been gained and gained, is say, their children, not exempted or save it in the afterlife.
Verse 3: Will burn in the afterlife, in flaming fire that is lit with flames and rage, Abu Lahab will enveloped by fire in the afterlife, a flame of fire, which has no smoke.

Verse 5: You will have upon her neck a rope of palm fiber and halter that afflict much, also said that she will have an iron chain neck. That is, the fire will be a chain of iron as iron pulley which will be dragged into it. She will be known by a distinctive mark in hell as it was known by hostility towards the Prophet.

Islamic Scholars say that Chapter 111 is one of the miracles of the Quran
Islamic scholars say that if Abu Lahab (and wife) have received Islam Quran all have been in question. Because the Qur'an clearly dictated that Abu Lahab (and wife) will dwell in the eternal fire in the afterlife, and both Abu Lahab (And wife) did not embrace Islam and died as unbelievers be.
Note that Abu Lahab (and wife) had the opportunity to do that for ten years (= 365 x 10 days). This means that Abu Lahab had 3650 chances if he one day would have said that he is Muslim and believes in Allah, Muhammad and the Koran. In this case, the divine nature of the Quran had been suspect and the confidence of all the Quran had been questionable. In addition, the wife of Abu Lahab had the same opportunities 3650 to demonstrate that the Qur'an is not divinely revealed.
Chapter 111 was revealed at a time when no one but Allah could say who or non-believers will become the future. They tried to oppose everything, ridicule, and disprove the Koran. Hopefully, they also seek to be faithful only to cast doubt on the accuracy of the Koran. But implementing this strategy obvious. heard Muhammad and the Muslims say. However, about ten years before Abu Lahab died, a chapter little in the Koran (Sura 111) was revealed by him. It is clearly said he would fire (ie, Hell). In other words, said he would never to be a Muslim and therefore be condemned forever.
For ten years all Abu Lahab had to do was say, "I heard that he has revealed Muhammad is never going to change – I will never be a Muslim and will enter into hell fire. Well, now I want to become Muslim.

And in all that time he never accepted Islam or even became sympathetic for the Islamic cause.
How could Muhammad possibly know for sure that Abu Lahab would fulfill the Qur'anic revelation if he (ie Muhammad) was not truly the messenger of Allah? How could it have been so confident as to give someone 10 years to discredit his claim of prophecy?
The only answer is that he was the messenger of Allah, because in order to present a challenge as risky, one must be fully convinced that he has a revelation divine. "
